About this School Project (3rd Gr. Principled Art Challenge)
Students identified what it means to be a principled artist. Being principled is one of the IB PYP Learner Profile Attributes. Being principled by taking care of materials and making sure to take an amount that leaves materials for other students helps everyone get to enjoy art class! Students were challenged to think of an idea that used drawing or collage materials and 20 or less of our special collage materials (pom poms, feathers, sequins, googly eyes, etc.) Students had to be creative problem-solvers, choosing the drawing or collage materials that would work best for their idea and show their art skills!
As they were planning, creating, and revising their artwork, students worked toward the Ohio Visual Arts Performing Enduring Understanding: Artists employ personal processes and skills to solve problems creatively and present work in various contexts.
They were also working toward the following Ohio Visual Art Standards:
2.1CR Generate artmaking ideas from multiple sources.
3.2CR Investigate artistic challenges using various materials and tools.
3.2PE Demonstrate expressive and purposeful use of materials and tools.
