About this School Project (3-A Pumpkin Patches Inspired by Alma Thomas)
This adorable pumpkin patch celebrates the fall season along with introducing 3rd graders to the style of the American artist Alma Thomas. Alma Thomas was the first African American woman to have her own art show. Thomas liked to use visible brush strokes to create her paintings. In this lesson, students will emulate her style by using a straight and circular configuration, as well as getting the chance to make various tints and combinations of colors to design their own pumpkin patch.
