About this School Project (What's in a NAME Project-TK-4th)
Using a variety of methods to "communicate" with our viewer, the students are sharing ideas of things that are important to them in their lives. Look for: our favorite color, food, animal, game, subject in school, people, and of course, our name, which we all love! With the older children, they are using LINE as a design tool. We imagined that our names were "electric" and had magnetic powers that pulled our concentric lines around them, tracing our the shape of our name until we ran out of space on our paper. Can you see how we had to "jump" over to the next available spot, where we were then able to come back on to the paper and continue our BEAUTIFUL "CONTOUR" Lines. Contour lines show us the SHAPE of things and help us to draw more realistically (more on that later) for both 2- & 3-Dimensional objects-in this case, 2-D on a 2-D plane. Well, we hope you enjoy them as much as we did making them!
