About this School Project (Charles Burchfield Trees)
Students looked at paintings of trees, made by Expressionist Charles Burchfield, depicting a variety of seasons. We discussed how he uses neutral colors and creates different moods/feelings for his paintings. Students create their own tree landscapes, including a horizon line, and they learned how to use the letter Y to create their trees and branches. Students used chalk pastels and cotton balls to blend colors to complete their picutres.
