About this School Project (Japanese Notans)
4th grade artists examined the balance of light and dark through the Japanese traditional art of Notan. To begin, students collaged tissue paper using a selected color scheme. Then students designed their own "expansion of the square" notan through cutting out organic and geometric shapes.
