About this School Project (Kandinsky Circle Silhouette - 3rd)
For the first step of this project, we studied Wassily Kandinsky's famous painting "Squares with Concentric Circles." We observed how there are several color families used within each circle. The students created concentric circles with oil pastels to show all of the following color families: primary, secondary, warm, cool, & a random fun circle. After finishing the circles, the students chose 2 colors next to each other on the color wheel (analogous colors) to watercolor the entire background. Lastly, we discussed what silhouettes are and students created a silhouette (of buildings or a natural landscape) with black paper to glue on top.
