About this School Project (3- Value Leaves)
Students learned about the concept of value- how light or dark a color/hue is. They learned how to mix tints (lighter) and shades (darker) versions of the color by adding white and black to a color. To start the project, they chose a leaf tracer, and traced it three times on their paper. The next step was to divide the leaf into smaller sections by adding lines. They painted the leaves using tints and shades of red, orange and brown. The final step was to outline the leaves and go over the lines they had created with black paint and painted the sky blue.
