About this School Project (3rd Grade Line Design)
3rd Grade Students started the year focusing on "How We Organize Ourselves" with the central idea "Artists organize space, tools, and the art elements and principles to create their artwork." Students identified how to take care of art tools and materials so that each artist knows how the art room is organized and can find what they need. They practiced being responsible students and using drawing supplies correctly and putting back their materials when they were done. Students were creative artists as they tried to make an interesting design using different line types in an abstract style. Students were risk-takers and up for the line challenge! Each student found a unique way to draw and arrange lines. They then chose if they wanted to add colors, values, or textures (3 of the elements of art!) Ask your student "Which line types did you use? How did you choose? What was the impact of adding color?"
Students were working toward the following Ohio Visual Art Standards:
3.2CR Investigate artistic challenges using various materials and tools.
3.3CR Experiment with the elements of art to explore connections with the principles of design.
