About this School Project (Prairie Dog)
In this lesson, students draw a prairie dog with the facial expression of their choice. Students color the scene using a coloring technique that incorporates value by giving each shape a dark outline and light interior to add contrast. The piece is assembled together using a simple paper strip mechanism so that the prairie dog can pop in and out of its burrow for movement.
