Artist Statement (what Jaxson3231 said about their artwork)
BALANCE: I used asymmetrical balance In my piece. For example, the placing of my prints vs the cutouts is alternating.with 2 of each on both sides.
UNITY: I created unity in my piece with the way I chose my colors. For example I used red and orange with my original prints which go together very well. For my secondary prints I used blue and green which are very tame cool colors.
MOVEMENT: i created movement in my art with the pattern. The pattern consists of lines inside of each other at a 90 degrees. There were some spots where I sort of bunched them a little but it ended up being fine.
PATTERN: One way I created pattern in my art was with my lines in the background.
RHYTHM: one way I created rhythm in my art was with the lines in the background. I did this by drawing them at a 90 degree angle and the colors changed a lot.
EMPHASIS: one way I Made emphasis in my art was with the colors of some of the squirrels.
CONTRAST: I created contrast in my art because I used two very warm colors and two cooler colors.
VARIATION:I created variation in my art because I alternated the way I placed the cutouts Vs the full prints.
About this School Project (Arch - Printmaking Collage)
First the students decide on an animal or object from nature that represents them. Then they create multiple prints using that animal as a focus. Once their prints are complete, they participate in an activity about the principles of design. The final step is creating a collage that includes all of the principles in some way. They need to be able to identify and explain how they incorporated all of the principles of design in their final collage. The final result is incredible!
