About this School Project (Not A Dot - A study in positive and negative space - I am...)
Each Union Chapel Gator created an abstract painting to celebrate International DOT Day inspired by the book, The Dot, by author and illustrator Peter Reynolds. The next art class we found positive and negative space as we cut out our "dots" from our "not a dots" - as Vashti, the main character from our book, would call them. We finished our dots by placing them on a color we found looked great in complementing our dots and signed our name like Vashti as well. We have created a piece of artwork that displays in detail a character trait that reflects each artist with our "not a dots" by placing the words "I am..." in the negative space. Students determined an adjective that described them to finish the thought and designed it into their artwork.
