About this School Project ((Blue) Jim Dine Inspired Art Tools)
We learned about the artist Jim Dine who used objects to represent himself. For example he used hardware tools a lot in his art due to the influence of his grandparents owning a hardware store when he was growing up. For this guided artwork, students chose 4 - 6 art tools and drew them for their art composition. Once the tools were drawn in a way they felt looked best, they traced with black ink. Next they added color to portions of the tools, and used a tapping technique with their brush for a camouflaged foreground and background. They finished the drawings by using a black chalk pastel line on one side of each tool and smudging for a shadow technique.
