About this School Project (MAE ENGRON INSPIRED ABSTRACT ART)
6th grade artists each created a piece of art based on the art of Mae Engron. Mae was an African American abstract artist that was inspired by organic forms and patterns from nature. Her art was made up of different thickness of black lines filled in with color and pattern.
The artists began their piece by adding 10 lines with thin black sharpie that started at 1 edge of the paper and went to another edge of the paper. Thick black Sharpie was added to the lines to create different thicknesses of lines. Lastly, they moved around the classroom to different tables, each having a different art material that they have used during their time at North Hills. This gave them a chance to show their skill with marker, colored pencils, crayons, oil pastels, watercolor and paint. All 6th grade artists will have their piece displayed collaboratively with their 6th grade peers.
