About this School Project (101 Cave Art)
Who was the first artist and how did they make art? What did their art look like? First graders explored the caves of Lascaux where paintings were discovered that people made over 17000 years ago. They learned to use natural colors to create textures of a rock wall, and they used basic shapes to draw animals and tell hunting stories like the early cave dwellers. They talked about and guessed how these prehistoric pictures could have had what looked like spray paint, and they used their hands to create prints like they had in the caves.
