About this School Project (Open Studio)
Open Studio is time for full TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior).
Much of what you will see in this category is called "processed based art." The focus is on experimentation and exploration of materials and subject matter. The goal is to give your child a chance to create authentic art and to help them develop a voice as an artist.
I encourage you to read your child's titles and artist statements, and ask them questions so they can explore their thinking and build on what they learned through their creations. Try to avoid asking, "What is this?" and instead ask, "Tell me more about this piece." You can read more about how to talk to your child about their artwork by reading the following website:
https://theartofeducation.edu/2020/04/20/how-to-talk-to-kids-about-their-art/Guiding principles of the TAB philosophy are:
WHAT DO ARTISTS DO?
THE CHILD IS THE ARTIST.
THE CLASSROOM IS THE CHILD'S STUDIO.
