About this School Project (K- Sunset Silhouette Landscapes)
The students learned about the element of space and how we can see it and use it in art. Creating space and distance can be done by recognizing that objects that are close up appear bigger and objects far away appear smaller in the distance. We talked about the 3 areas in a scene, foreground, middleground and background, and the size of objects that go with each of those areas. We also talked about a sunset; what time of day that is, what happens to the sky and the objects around us outside, etc. They are creating their own landscape drawing with a foreground of solid black silhouette objects, and a middleground of gray solid objects, and a sunset sky with 3 colors of their choice.
