About this School Project (If I Could Fly Anywhere (2nd Grade))
The students read the book and viewed the accompanying quilt, "Tar Beach," by Faith Ringgold. They learned how this artist made herself flying in her artworks in order to represent dreaming. They drew pictures of themselves flying to their favorite places that they would like to visit. They finished their artworks by collaging colorful borders to help their drawings look like quilts, just like the artwork "Tar Beach."
