About this School Project (3rd Grade Fiber Art)
3rd grade artists learned how to use yarn, needle, and burlap to create a work of art! They learned the running and back stitch and some students even challenged themselves to create cross stitches! The students were really risk-takers using new art material and building their skills! There are many fields and hobbies that may use sewing (surgeons, dentists, tailors, clothing designers) in their careers so learning these basic stitches could be helpful in the future and provides another way for students to express themselves! Students really had to be thinkers (our learner profile attribute of the month) to design a work of art that they could sew that still represented them as a person and artist! Ask your student what was the most challenging part of sewing? How did they feel when they finished their work of art?
