About this School Project (1st Grade - Mountain Landscape)
Students in First Grade continued their study of how "Art Expresses a Point of View" through the use of space by creating a mountain landscape. Student's familiarity of landscape vocabulary was reinforced throughout this project. They learned where and how to draw the horizon line. Students also remembered how to draw objects big in the foreground, medium sized in the middle ground, and small in the background. Whenever possible, students also practiced overlapping different objects in front of one another to further show depth. What and how they drew their mountain landscape was up to them. Also, students got to choose which colors in the sky to use depending on what time of day/night they wanted to color their image. Finally, students used a variety of oil pastel techniques to color their mountainous landscape designs.
