Artist Statement (what Hannah33560 said about their artwork)
My favorite part of this artwork is the horse. I think I did a pretty good job at carving the horse and I love horses. My least favorite was the grass, because I could have added a bit more texture. If I were to create this again, I would change the grass. My inspiration for this art work is making a new year's wish fro Chinese New Year. My wish was to learn more about horses. The owl represents learning, and the horse is what I will learn about. While creating this artwork, I learned that it won't be perfect the first time I make something. It takes several tries. Something that surprised me about this art is how satisfying carving a tile is. Another thing that surprised me is how many steps it takes to make a print. First, I made fingerprint size sketches, took two of those and drew them again, that time larger and more detailed. Then I made a final sketch of one of the two in which I traced with sharpie. After that I put it on a tile, and colored all the black parts with a ball point pen. This "imprinted" it onto the tile. Next I traced the lines on the tile with a sharpie again, and I carved out the parts that were not traced with sharpie. Then I made a few test prints, and when I was satisfied, I finally made 3 final prints with expensive ink. One was on book paper, and the other two were on watercolor paper. Making this was hard, but worth it.

Hi Hannah! Great work! Your first printing job! You are following in the footsteps of Grandpa, although I don't think he ever carved tiles! It must have been interesting to learn the various steps it takes to create a picture like this. The horse looks beautiful and I love the owl which is representing wisdom and learning.

How fascinating that you carved in a tile and learned about the process of printmaking! Your horse looks like a young one ready to explore the world... just like you! I'm happy to hear you enjoy horses and have started to ride them. :)

You're a real artist, Hannah! And the result is beautiful; you had to spend time, pacience, and artistic thought and technique, and so we can see your dream!

Wow Hannah! I agree that you have done a really good job with the horse. The owl and it's inquisitive mitigate are also really well done! The stars in the sky are beautiful too. A lot of work involved and you did it well ??
