About this School Project (4 Jim Dine Inspired Positive Symbols)
INTRO:
During this lesson, students were introduced to the Pop Artist, Jim Dine who is famous for painting hearts. Pop artist such as Warhol, Lichtenstein and Dine, create artwork from everyday images. Jim Dine's specialty is hearts.
PROJECT:
Students first created a checkerboard-like background using bleeding tissue paper. They then learned about symbols in particular the positive symbols of a heart, yin yang, peace, and star. They could choose whichever one they wanted for their project. When their background was dry, they added highlights and shadows in chalk pastel to make their symbols appear three dimensional.
