About this School Project (Auguste Rodin Movement Figure Drawing)
Students studied famous sculpture Auguste Rodin. They learned about his process of studying figures by watching them move, drawing their dynamic movements over and over before starting to sculpt what he saw. Students practiced drawing student volunteers who weren't moving and then students who were. We talked about which was easier and why Rodin would have chosen to study his models in movement. They then finished one of their drawings, creating a piece inspired by Rodin's study of a Cambodian Dancer. Their next step will be to turn this study into a sculpture.
