About this School Project (SUMINAGASHI & EBRU: Paper Marbling [First Grade])
First Grade Artists continue their travels within our ART OF THE WORLD curriculum. Our next stop is Japan and Turkey where we learn about each country's process of PAPER MARBLING: Japan = Suminagashi and Turkey = Ebru.
PROJECT
Create a series of MONOPRINTS using the different processes of paper marbling presented in class:
1. Suminagashi: Black Sumi Ink + Water
2. Suminagashi: Color Sumi Ink + Water
3. Hybrid Suminagashi: Shaving Cream + Food Coloring
For the hybrid form of Suminagashi, begin with three colors of food coloring. After the first monoprint is created, add up to two more colors to build upon your existing color design.
