Artist Statement (what elisabet55 said about their artwork)
This is a charcoal portrait of myself. It was made using cardboard, charcoal, and pencil. The cardboard is 7.5"x10.5." To make this piece, a sketch was drawn onto the cardboard using pencil. Then, charcoal was used over the pencil. Only white and black charcoal were used. The charcoal was blended in using a blending stump.
About this School Project (Charcoal Study)
The student will continue to study portraits. The student will work on a repurposed piece of cardboard that is sized according to their concept. A highly expressive self portrait will be taken, printed, and then used in a sketchbook before drawing on the selected piece of cardboard. Charcoal will be reviewed/introduced as the media for this assignment.
