About this School Project (Kindergarten Rainbow Self-Portraits)
Students practiced proper paint brush usage (think like a ballerina!) using tempera cakes. Students were asked to paint in rainbow or color wheel order, working on brush control, filling the entire page, all while keeping their paint trays clean.
We talked about “selfies” and students looked at famous artist self-portraits (Van Gogh, Picasso, Frida Kahlo, etc.)
We listed all of our different body parts and facial features and talked about the shapes and lines we would need to draw a self-portrait! Once drawn, students cut out their self portrait and glued it to their rainbow painting.
To finish up their work, students worked on glue control, and created a colorful border around their self-portrait using rainbow order collaged sqaures!
