About this School Project (K-Chicka Trees)
We read the story Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault, illustrated by Lois Ehlert. Students traced their arm and hand for the trunk of the tree. Students used a paint stick to add color to the tree. Students learned about using a paintbrush, water cup and keeping the brush on it's tippy toes so we take care of it's hair. Students used blue cake tempera paint to paint the sky. We talked about the care of scissors and how to hold a scissors and then students cut their half circles of paper to create the leaves of their palm tree. Students used pom poms for their coconuts and then used foamie shaped letters to create their name climbing or falling out of their tree.
