About this School Project (Field of Poppies)
First graders were shown poppy field paintings by Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet. They learned about background, middle ground, and foreground and how artists use size and color to create depth and space in a painting! Using this knowledge we created poppy field paintings! We used two different colors for the grass to create depth and changed the sizes of our poppies to show foreground and middle ground. We also talked about why poppies are significant for Veterans Day and Memorial Day. This is always one of my FAVORITE projects!!
