About this School Project (COLOR: Hues, Neutrals, Tints/Tones/Shades [First Grade])
Before we "jet-off" to a new location in our ART OF THE WORLD curriculum, let's stop on the island of color.
PROJECT
1. COLOR WHEEL: Using watercolors, fill in the PRIMARY, SECONDARY, and TERTIARY/INTERMEDIATE spaces with saturated color. When mixing watercolors in your PALETTES, try to add equal amounts of both watercolors to create the TERTIARY colors.
2. NEUTRALS: Neutrals can be created by mixing different PRIMARY and SECONDARY colors. Using the color formulas I've given you, create NEUTRAL colors by mixing equal amounts of watercolor indicated in each formula.
3. TINTS / TONES/ SHADES: Explore how to make variations of TINTS, TONES, and SHADES. Fill-in each row of boxes on the worksheet. Move from HUE (pure color) to pure neutral (white) with white watercolor (tints) , hue to pure neurtal (gray) with gray watercolor (tones), and hue to pure neutral (black) with black wartercolor (shade) in equal jumps.
