About this School Project (3rd Patterned Trees)
3rd graders closely looked at the paintings of Chilean artist Carlos Catasse, then used his artwork as inspiration. We started by planning a color scheme in our sketchbooks. We cut and glued geometric and organic shapes to create our background, tree trunk and leaves. Complex patterns using repeating lines and shapes were then added to the canopy with paint pen.
