About this School Project (Primary/Secondary Color Creatures)
First graders are learning all about which primary colors create which secondary colors. We picked 6 shapes to trace of various sizes. This was challenging and we had to do a lot of problem solving to fit all 6 shapes on our paper. We couldn't do 6 large shapes so we had to mix it up with some small and medium shapes. We traced the shapes with sharpie and used ONLY the primary colors (red, yellow and blue) to paint and then had to mix them to create the secondary colors (orange, green and purple). Ask your child how to make orange, green or purple! The next class we turned our shapes into creatures, real or imaginary. We talked about facial features and expression! To finish, we cut them out and glued them on a colored background. To finish, we used colorsticks and students were encouraged to add background details that fit the environment for their creatures. The kids did a great job of being creative!
