About this School Project (2nd Grade Shows Commitment & adds to their Painted Skies!)
2nd grade artists looked at artworks that included skies from artists around the world including paintings by Polish artist Agnieszka Kozien, Afro-Native American artist Richard Mayhew, and Brazilian artist Tarsila do Amaral. After creating a sky painting using tempera cakes or watercolors, they identified the elements of art they could use to add additional details. Students practiced first before deciding what details they would like to add to their artworks!
Students then demonstrated art skills with watercolor and tempera cake paints creating their own skies.
Students were working toward the following Ohio Visual Art Benchmarks:
2.1PE Show perseverance in the creative process.
2.2PE Apply increasing skill in the appropriate use of materials and tools.
2.3PE Produce works that intentionally incorporate the elements of art.
