About this School Project (2 - Fall Tree Reflections)
Second graders examined and came up with “I notice” and “I wonder” statements for famous paintings that depicted different seasons. They folded their paper in half and drew one or several fall trees with a brown oil pastel on the top half of their paper. Next,they painted the ground and sky with tempera cakes. They painted the bottom half of their paper with liquid starch and folded and rubbed their papers to transfer the colors to the bottom to create a reflection in water. Finally, the students used oil pastels to add details to their reflections, including ripples in the water.
