About this School Project (2V The Dot, Lines & Cutting)
The children began the year exploring The Dot, and reaffirming that there are many "right ways" of creating in art. They used watercolor crayons. Next class, they created frames cutting and drawing different qualities of line (in The Dot, the dot is framed by the art teacher in "swirly gold") This project helped me to assess beginning of the year cutting, while also challenging the children to brainstorm many different ways to create line. They also were introduced to what a contour line is, and to the idea of "balance" - they were scientists, analyzing their art for balanced line and color on their frames.
