About this School Project (KR The Dot!)
Kindergarten students had a very busy first art class! They discovered their art seats; they learned that their table has a color just for them. We read part of "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds, and learned that artists "experiment with media in art, then notice and share about their discoveries." So, they "wondered what would happen if..." then shared what they discovered. They used watercolor crayons both heavily and lightly, tried different colors next to each other, and learned how to use our water cups without splattering on their neighbor's art.
They loved sharing how colors mixed, how colors changed depending on which one was on top, or on how much was used, and especially how much fun they were having! They also loved noticing how the colors went through to the paper below in beautiful ways. So, you have a photo of their "dot" and the print left from the paint. At the end of art class, I gave them a "I'm a Foster smARTie!" paper bracelet for their first art class. I hope that you heard all about their first day in art class!
