About this School Project (Alma Woodsey Thomas Collages - 1st)
We studied the artwork of Alma Woodsey Thomas and learned that:
*Her abstract paintings were inspired by nature.
*She was an art teacher for 35 years!
*She was the 1st African-American woman artist to have her artwork selected to hang in the White House.
Students use watercolors to paint a nature inspired picture for their background and then made an abstract collage on top of it. They could choose vertical lines or circular lines, inspired by Alma’s work.
