About this School Project (Field of Flowers; Near and Far)
Students in Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade were learning about space as an element of art. The classes saw a video showing things that are near and things that are far; focusing on the fact that when something is far away it appears very small.
Students were given a 9 x 12 piece of paper and held it horizontally (Landscape). They drew a horizon line and learned that this is the vanishing point in landscapes. They colored the ground and sky with crayon filling in the areas that are near dark and the areas that are far, light. Using q-tips and acrylic paint they dabbed flowers onto the land, making small dots in background and larger flowers in the foreground.
