About this School Project (Clay Hearts)
Students heard about the life and art of Pop Cubist, Romero Britto. He is known for the Happy Art Movement and his colorful, bold artwork. He is well recognized for his use of hearts in his artwork. Students created a clay heart with lines using addition and subtraction techniques. They began with a slab of clay, traced a heart template, and carved the heart out from the slab. They made two coils to make 3-D lines that popped out and drew into the clay to make texture likes in the clay. After the clay was bisque fired, they chose at least two colors to glaze their heart to give it color and shine.
