About this School Project (5 Indian Peacocks)
INTRO:
During this lesson, students learned about the national bird of India; the Peacock. They watched a video in which they learned how a bird becomes the national bird of a country and how the peacock was a natural choice due to its rich religious and legendary involvement in Indian traditions.
PROJECT:
Students began their project by drawing a large image of the male peacock complete with its fan of tail feathers. Next, they traced over their drawing with a black sharpie and then colored in the birds body and feathers with watercolor crayons to add texture. They then painted their watercolor crayon drawing with water and a brush and finally their background with watercolor paints using two analogous colors (colors that are next to one another on the color wheel that blend well together).
