About this School Project (4 Japanese Notan)
INTRO:
Students were introduced to the Notan, a Japananese art form in which balance is created between light and dark. They looked at images created by Japanese artists during the 16th and 18th centuries as well as Notans of today.
PROJECT:
Students began by choosing either white on black or black on white papers. Using designs or images, students created mirror images by flipping the cut designs back and forth to create an interesting and balanced Notan design.
