About this School Project (4TH ALMA THOMAS PAINTINGS)
Alma Woodsey Thomas was an inspiration to several groups; African Americans, women and older artists! She grew up during a time when these groups did not have the same rights as they do now. She was an art teacher for 35 years before venturing on to her own art career. She had her 1st art show at the age of 75! She was a member of a group of artists called "Color Field" artists. The art was simple, colorful and used flat blocks of color. 4th grade artists created paintings based on her work!
