Artist Statement (what Kyle22259 said about their artwork)
My favorite part of this artwork is how the texture contrasts the smooth trail strips. My least favorite part of this artwork was putting the pins into the piece because they kept spinning. I would add more glue under the tissue paper if I were to remake this. I learned about implied texture and real texture while creating this piece. What surprised me was the usage of strings to represent ski lifts.
I first used “paste paper” to create a base to my piece. I then placed cardboard onto the paper to form the mountain shape. I placed tissue paper over top of that, and added texture to the whole thing with white paint. I added the purple trails and finally the lift lines with red string.
