I did not know that you could make a 3-d-like artwork. The colors around it are my mom's favorite colors.
About this School Project (Popping Onomatopoeia)
Students looked at the artworks of Pop artist, Roy Lichtenstein, who studied and taught at Ohio State. The lesson centered on his works with words that seemed to explode, words that imitate the sounds associated with the objects or actions they refer to, onomatopoeia. they had learned about onomatopoeia in English class so our study of Lichtenstein's comic book style of art was a great way to review using art. They chose an onomatopoeia word, formed it with foam letters on white paper, and outlined the letters with black Sharpie marker. An angular or curved organic shape was drawn around the word, then outlined with Sharpie, and cut out. This was put onto a colored paper and another organic shape was drawn around this shape, outlined with sharpie and cut. This same process was done with yet another paper color, then a cloud made of dotted paper, to represent Lichtenstein's use of Ben-Day dots, was made for the final layer. Please comment on these popping examples of onomatopoeia.
