About this School Project (Papel Picado)
For Hispanic Awareness Month, 1st graders made papel picado, folded and cut, colorful tissue paper banners used often for Hispanic celebrations. Papel picaco artist Kathleen Trenchard, of Texas, was the featured artist. Students had to follow folding directions and carefully cut along the folds in much the same way as when making snowflakes. The students were very excited to use the glittery tissue paper and how their papel picado turned out so please comment on them.
