About this School Project (Mr.Tiger Goes Wild)
First grade read the book "Mr. Tiger Goes Wild." We talked about all the different ways he went wild and we discussed some of the jungle illustrations in the story. We used sharpie to draw our tigers with a whole lot of triangles!
The next class we viewed Henri Rousseau's painting..."Tiger in a Tropical Storm" and talked about how we thought the tiger felt in the painting and the reasons why. We also talked about the sizes and colors of Henri Rousseau's jungle plants. Using the book and the painting for inspiration, we drew our own jungle backgrounds and colored it all in with crayon. We used watercolor for our background to create a resist! (Make sure to ask your kids what happens when you paint watercolor on top of crayon).
To finish it off, we used different colors of paper to create 3D grasses of different heights and used our extra papers for jungle leaves. These are stunning! Please compliment your favorite artist!
