About this School Project (Line Suns)
In this vibrant project, our young artists explored the diverse world of lines and their expressive potential. They learned about different types of lines—straight, curved, thick, thin, dashed, and more—and how these lines can convey emotion and movement in their artwork.
Inspired by their newfound knowledge, students created dynamic compositions of suns, with rays of light radiating outward. Using crayons, they drew a variety of lines to form their suns and the surrounding elements, experimenting with patterns and textures to bring their designs to life.
Once their crayon drawings were complete, artists applied watercolor paint on top, utilizing the wax resist technique. This technique allowed the wax from the crayon to repel the paint, creating beautiful contrasts and emphasizing the vibrant colors of their suns. Students experimented with blending different watercolor hues, learning how to mix colors effectively while also practicing proper painting procedures.
The final compositions showcase the students’ creativity, technical skills, and understanding of line and color. This project not only fostered artistic expression but also provided a fun and engaging way to explore the fundamentals of drawing and painting.
