About this School Project (205 Matisse Organic and Geometric Shapes)
Second grade artists learned to distinguish organic and geometric shapes as they studied the paper cut-out techniques of famous artist Henri Matisse. They were challenged to arrange both types of shapes to create a background for a watercolor fish bowl. This project gave them practice with the elements of shape and color as well as principles including balance and rhythm. They used a variety of mediums and strengthened motor skills.
