About this School Project (4+5 Zentangle Pumpkins )
In class we reviewed patterns . Then we talked about combining simple patterns to create more complex patterns. The first class students created complex patterns on their own. Then we hung them on the board and compared each others work. The students were asked which patterns they liked and why. After this we talked about how the patterns that were pleasing to our eyes were very neat and well thought out. This helped the students see the difference it makes when they take their time.
Class two we talked about the word composition. Composition is how objects are arranged on a page . The students were instructed to brainstorm their own composition for this project. They needed to decide how many pumpkins, how big, and where on the page they would go. After practicing drawing a pumpkin the students got to work!
Class three and four the students traced over their lines in sharpie and began to add complex patterns inside their pumpkins. Then they were allowed to water color paint and choose any colors they would like.
