That looks like one of grandpa's medals he won for finishing a marathon. Or it really looks like the medals your dad won in competing in chess championships when he was in high school

Nathan, what a gorgeous bowl! Did you know that grandma likes also likes to do pottery? Next time you visit we will walk up to the neighbor's pottery shop and see what he is making.

I know it's a necklace- and it's very attractive with the detailed figure and the airy light ribbon. And it stands out wonderfully on the black background which almost looks like velvet. But I am still trying to figure out what it is. Perhaps it's the most interesting of all because I still don't know. At first I was thinking a snowflake, but the more I looked it could be a gingerbread man. You have to negate the spindle with the ribbon, then if you choose the spindle either to the right or the left as his head, you can easily identify the arms and legs. Then when it is enlarged it looks more maybe like a sea creature. OK Nathan, What is it??? Grandma Johnson

Another abstract- and not the light-hearted colors of the other abstract. This one is much more detailed, serious and labor intensive. It's like I have to do all these things, fill each of these lines and they all have to be different. I'm appreciative, but it makes me tired, tired, tired. It's like, do I have to unload the dishwasher again? Or, I just swept the floor yesterday, but look at it- I need to do it again.. Grandma Johnson Nathan, don't you dare say you like this one best..

I'm not much into abstract, but the colors are very pleasing and the black lines, each a different geometric pattern, really stand out. It's almost an artistic way of portraying current ways of communicating. What I'm thinking is an artistic representation of your EKG, or of sine waves from an acoustic breakdown of noise, specifically music. Very interesting. Grandma Johnson It would be fun to know what Nathan has to say about this water-color.

Snowflakes, Snowflakes, where are all the little snowflakes coming from??? The Happy Little Mitten reaches up tp the sky to touch, to feel, to rake the softly falling white icy flakelets down. The anticipation is to taste, to play, to roll them into balls to throw, balls to build, even balls to sculpt into snow creatures. Happy Day!!

Nathan and his Mom Love gardening--and last summer Nathan grew some fantastic sunflowers. He was even able to bring one to school for Show and Tell so his friends could all see the sunflower seeds- and even touch them....His portrait of his sunflower is perfect- with the outer yellow flower petals and the multiple rows of rich brown seeds...a perfect lunch for squirrels and birds.

Nathan has a lot of experience building real snowmen from real Colorado snow under the supervision of his Dad who did the snowman thing with our Ohio snow. So I am not surprised that Nathan's snowman has a lot of character, good proportions and is jolly well ready for a toboggan ride with the rest of the kids! Grandma Johnson
