Dear Eli, as you know, I’m a big fan of black and white art (especially Photography). But here your abstract B&W drawing/ construction is a wonderful graphic with many possible interpretations: ins/outs, opposites attract, day/night, etc.. It’s a very bold and thought provoking piece. Keep up the great art work! Grandpa Chuck

Dear Eli, Loved your most recent art work. I can imagine a soccer ball being kicked up in the air on a balmy day in some tropical climate with palm fronds covering the field/pitch and everyone looking up at the ball in flight - it having been successfully kicked toward the goal net by the great soccer star Eli Suchar! Eli!!!! This donut looks too good to be a sculpture. Way to go! (P.S. You still can’t say the word “donut” in my classroom ??)

I want a copy of this artwork for my home! It reminds me of when I was a your age and we'd catch fireflies in the evening. So realistic!

Eli - I found your monogram in this delightful design! And I love the use of colors you chose to both highlight and hide your initial.

Eli - I love your piece 3 Birch Trees. Your depiction of them shows the complexity of their design compared to other trees: the color, the knots in the bark, the rings that evolve as the tree grows. I have one Birch Tree just off of my deck - now I wish I had 3! I love that in winter when it is all trunk and branches and no leaves it seems, as I look at it, to hide in the snow. The bluish tone you used at the base of the background almost had me thinking it was winter!

I very much enjoyed seeing your “birtch tree” art work, Eli!! As a photographer, it reminded me of the photo work of one of my favorite artists, Ansel Adams, who has many beautiful images of Birtch and other trees from the Western USA. Your painterly version captures the beautiful natural design of the tree bark in their light and dark configurations. Very nice Eli! Keep up the good work! When you’re back in Chicago, I’ll show you a photograph on our walls that has a similar photo view of such trees.

Eli, I have always loved fire flies & these are my all time favorites! The colors you used are perfect, the lavender/purple being soft, yet a perfect accent, against the night sky, & the yellow highlighting the fire flies light is perfect. Thank you for another wonderful art piece. Grandma Sharry

Grandma Edie and I are very impressed with your varied interests in and these many things and the graphic that you’ve made here is bold and creative!! We especially marvel at your reading skills and you really have developed into quite the excellent athlete! We, of course, know of your several collections. The graphic you’ve produced here is a very nice testament to all of this. Keep up your art work and your varied interests. But, we’ll let you in on a little secret: on top of all the above, we think you’re one the sweetest, nicest, smartest kids on the planet! Chuck and Edie

Eli - I love your “I am” - except your Sharbear would also include if there was space “Eli is a wonderful, loving boy who has a great curiosity about many, many things”! I love your choice of colors and the I am Eli definitely being the largest section. Great way to begin your 3rd grade art year!

Dear Eli, what a beautiful butterfly! I love the very colorful wingtips! The dark outline of its body nicely offsets and highlights the colorful wings. Nicely done Eli! Love, grandpa Chuck

Dear Eli, Your “cubist” project art work has some really beautiful colors and contains some very unusual intersecting lines, pathways and objects that converge in the middle with the cubist, rectangular structure that appears to almost have an eye! Very creative! Really nice work Eli! Love, Grandpa Chuck

Eli, I love your sculpture. Is there a Harry Potter influence in your choice to have a snake. Popping out of your bowl? Be sure Sharebear doesn’t see this! Great work!

Dear Eli, I find this drawing/art piece to be most interesting because I can see different possible subjects (not knowing your own intentions for this) : a baseball diamond with a thanksgiving turkey out in right field, or, a very long-handed and strong-armed individual about to do something to the turkey out in the field. My apologies, if it’s not a turkey at all. Sometimes the beauty of artis that it can be interpreted in different ways outside the artists intentions. This wonderful piece you created,to me, is just such a work. Many thanks!!

Eli! Have you been to Iceland? It looks like you have. This picture reminds me of the colorful sunrises Uncle Mitch and I would see at 3 AM during our visit. Beautiful work, dude.

Eli, what a beautiful array of colors and amazing design!!! I see many different things in this art creation: a sunrise (or set) over a set of colorful cliffs. Please keep up your wonderful creativity and Eli sense of beauty. We like your sense of perspective and the colors are gorgeous!. Nice use of primary colors and the complimentary colors of blue, red, orange and yellow. What a great artist you are!! Love, Grandpa Chuck and Grandma Edie

Eli I LOVE the colors in this piece. Sometime you and I will have to do some water colors together. You seem to have such a great touch, none of the colors are too heavy. It's very pleasing for me to look at for a long time. Love you, Grandma Sharry

Eli Your artwork seems to have wonderful excitement about it. Not just all straight lines or a few colors, but a great variety of details, lines, and your use of softer color to highlight around the heart is very interesting. Love, Grandma Sharry

Eli! I loved seeing all your artwork this year, and can't wait to see everything next year. This is a very interesting piece using the rainbow shillouettes theme. It's almost as though you are peeking through something to see the rainbow - well, that's how I am imagining it. You will have to tell me if I am right. Love you. Grandma Sharry

Dear Eli, what a wonderful drawing!!! I love the the three different layers or planes in the art work: the dark foreground with what look like the silhouettes of people; the middle, large rectangular structure, and the rainbow-like background. They all work so well together. Nice work Eli!!! Love, Grandpa Chuck
