Saunder, your teacher mentioned how you took on the task of mixing colors to make other colors. That's certainly a challenging task, but i always enjoyed making all different hues and colors. Especially bright colors! (Just a touch of Titanium white brightens a color considerably!) I really like this painting, and exploring the artistic tool of fore, mid, and background is great. It can be a very powerful technique, especally when combined with complimentary and analogous colors as well as contrasting light and dark. I was driving to the airport from a job site in Canada and saw this view across the Saint Lawerence River that reminded me of your painting (it’s a bit different landscape but similar composition and colors.
